Silencing the World

In this world of glamour and noise, where tweets and posts are sometimes the basis of one's personality, we as Christians should be very careful of how we use technology, gadgets and the like before we reflect a different "Christ" to the whole wide world. This might not define who you are, but it can define the "Christ" your mouth professes to be in you.

So how can you now be an ambassador of Christ to this world full of whatever? Turn off the world and turn on the Word. Just as you silence or even turn off your phone when people disturb your very deep sleep. So it should be with what the world dictates.

I'm not telling you to lock yourself in your room, to alienate yourself from the world outside or to live the technology behind. What is it that I want to impress? We should be watchful. And I am going to stress out a few things on how to do so.

Review. Before you watch, listen to or read anything, try looking for reviews about the material. Ask for recommendation from others. Evaluate their pros and cons. Ensure that you get something good out of it because at the end of the day its just this --- Garbage in, garbage out. Before you post anything, whether status update, photo, blog, video or comment, make sure they won't be a stumbling block to those who might be tracking your walk in faith. Don't let the media be the measuring stick of your spirituality.

Regulate. We need not to alienate ourself from social media or technology to silence the world. That's not what this blog wants to tell us. We should know when and when not to post. We should know when to turn on and when to turn off. We should know when to comment and when to be silent. We should know when to hit like and when to tame our fingertips. Don't let the number of your posts and the things you like make Christians be misjudged.

Retreat. Try having a retreat. It can be literally, going somewhere and tuning ourselves to nature instead of listening to your Spotify playlists. Retreat from being digital message senders. Make your pen and paper give the typing job a break. Retreat from triggering social media wars. Deactivate your account once in a while to avoid virus from invading your spiritual health. Let your eyes rest from staring at photos and indulging at nonsense videos. Retreat from the exploring wattpad stories.Hold your bible and make it the storyboard of your life's book.

These are very practical ways of silencing the world and minimizing its influence in our lives so that we can make the world silent while we talk of Christ and speak of His greatness. I know we can silence the world further by making it see how loud our lives can speak of God's glory.S o now, let's challenge ourselves and make the world silenced by not being silent.
